While the course may not have been in pristine condition, I was really impressed with how good it was considering we’ve had several straight weeks without rain with temperatures rising above 100 daily. Under these conditions it becomes important the grass remain a little longer to stay healthy. The greens were firm and rolled true despite having aerated a few weeks ago. Visually you could tell the aerification was done but it didn’t seem to affect the playability of the course.
ACCESSIBILITY
COURSE DIFFICULTY: 3
WALKABILITY: 3
The majority of the holes on the course weave through a community though the homes are never really in the way. There are certainly a few holes on the property that feel more isolated, surrounded by trees or framed by water which was a nice treat in the summer heat.
Overall the course is fairly walkable. I wouldn’t walk in the summer personally but in the winter it’s probably a nice course to walk around. There are a few hills and a couple small stretches between holes but nothing too steep or too long.

Upon arriving, you enter into the beautiful clubhouse which feels a bit like a lodge on the inside. There was a restaurant inside though I didn’t get anything off the menu this visit. There was also a swimming pool, billiards, and locker rooms.
Outside is a grass driving range with the option to hit off mats if needed. There was a practice putting green, pitching and chipping green and a separate bunker area as well all centrally located near the clubhouse and first and tenth holes.
SUMMARY
Whenever you play a course for the first time you’re never quite sure what to expect. You can look at pictures online, scope out the course ahead of time on your favorite gps app or read a blog or talk to friends but you’ll never really know until you go. And Heritage Ranch is definitely a course I suggest playing. This Arthur Hills design has many signature elements Hills is known for and with 8 tee box options, good practice facilities, and accessible pricing, Heritage Ranch is a great place to spend the day on the links.
