Quick Read: More Than Just The Swing - A Quick Guide to Playing Better Golf From the Inside Out

Image
More than just the swing 🏌️‍♂️ A Quick Guide to Better Golf From the Inside Out Playing great golf is about more than just the swing. To improve your game from the inside out, you must focus on the 5 pillars of performance and incorporate them into your daily routine. Mindset: Your mindset will make you or break you. The best place to work on your mindset is off the course so when you need it on the course you’ll be ready. The best players have great swings, yes; but what makes them great is how those swings hold up under pressure. They have the mindset of a champion. Wellness: Put good in, get good out. Give your body what it needs to heal and it’ll amaze you with what it can do. The best players all take care of their bodies because they know they feel better and play better. Mobility: There are few things that can impact your performance in a more positive way than a daily mobility practice. Movement connects body and mind, brings you to the present, restores range of motion,...

Up and Down: A PGA Professional's Perspective on Golf and Philosophy

Image
Up and Down: A PGA Professional’s Perspective on Golf and Philosophy As a PGA Professional, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing firsthand how golf transcends being just a sport and evolves into a profound metaphor for life. The rhythmic sound of a well-struck ball, the lush greens stretching out before us - it’s more than just a game; it’s a philosophical journey through the ups and downs of existence. 1. Guiding the Trajectory: In golf, much like in life, the trajectory of the ball represents our journey. From the initial drive off the tee to navigating hazards and undulating greens, every shot mirrors the twists and turns life throws our way. As a PGA Professional, I find joy in guiding golfers to embrace the unpredictability, emphasizing adaptability, persistence, and strategic thinking on their golfing and existential journeys. 2. Pursuit of Excellence: One of the most rewarding aspects of my role is witnessing golfers’ relentless pursuit of perfection in a game that cannot ...

The Perfect Shot: My First Hole In One

Image
In a game of misses, where it often comes down to fractions and degrees, the perfect shot is an elusive one. Even Tiger Woods said he’d usually only hit one perfect shot during a 72-hole tournament, and when he hit two he’d usually win by a large margin. Golf is about minimizing and managing misses to give oneself the best opportunity for the next shot. But on rare occasions, there is no next shot… It was the fourth of July and the pups and I got an early start to the morning, enjoying the dog park all to ourselves before the Texas sun was even above the horizon. Cool and fresh, the dogs ran around while I did my usual morning journaling and preparation for the day. I jokingly sent a text to my buddy Kevin Kraft about how I had yet to make an ace in Wordle (guessing the word on the first try). I had a new client coming in for their first lesson and we had a great session. It set a great tone for the morning full of positive energy and excitement about what was to come. I went home to ...

Quick Read: The Mental Library

Image
Golf is an interesting game. You swing down to make the ball go up, swing left to make it curve to the right, and the low score wins. One of the other quirks of the game is that we don’t look at our target when we swing. As such, we must play to a memory or a mental image. This is where the Mental Library comes in. The Mental Library is a place within your mind where you store all the best shots you’ve ever hit as well as all the shots that you’ve been able to learn from over the years. Over time you build your collection. You add new shots, you swap others out for better ones. With the proper understanding of how to do so, and with a commitment to a proper pre-shot routine, you can store your own highlight reel in your mind. Because we don’t look at the target when we hit a shot, we must form a mental image in our mind. Because of this, you could imagine anything you wanted. It doesn’t even need to be the hole you’re on. For example, I always hit a good drive on the eighth hole...

The Game of Life

Image
It starts the night before... Going through the bag, making sure it’s fully loaded with balls, tees, ball marker, laser, a snack or two, and good to go Taking each club out, one at a time, and scrubbing it down, making sure it’s clean and feeling fresh Looking up the course, scoping it out, visualizing the shots, creating a gameplan It’s these little obsessions, rituals if you will, that fascinates me about golf Golf is the game of life And in many ways, the lessons we must learn and overcome to be successful are the same in golf as they are in life Play the ball where it lies Keep an honest score Call penalties on yourself Show up on time Help the group look for balls Keep up with pace of play I could go on and on but the reality is that golf parallels life so well because they follow the same rules They're played in nature and adhere to the laws of physics You cannot overpower the conditions, you must surrender If the wind is blowing or rain is coming down, you must respect mot...

Believe to Achieve

Image
[BELIEVE TO ACHIEVE] We must see to believe, right? I don’t think so.. I think we must believe to achieve 🙌 No one was born great Every champion had to work to get to where they are And while many gave up along the way, Champions kept going because they have a vision Champions can see the future They KNOW they’ll do great things They BELIEVE it in their heart So what ends up happening when you believe with all your soul you can do something and you never stop working towards it...? I think you already know 😉  MOVE BETTER - PLAY BETTER COACH BLAINE ⛳🏌️‍♂️ For more, visit www.TourShotGolf.com
