Frisco, Texas is quickly establishing itself as a golf destination. The PGA of America moved their Headquarters to Frisco. There have historically been great golfing legends to come out of the state such as Hogan, Trevino, and Nelson, and of course the young talent such as Jordan Spieth and Scottie Scheffler, who grew up playing the nearby courses.

On the east side of Frisco is a local favorite, Plantation Golf Club which offers fair and challenging golf and amenities at an affordable price. Memberships are available to make the course even more accessible, and the staff at Plantation is always kind and accommodating.

The best part about Plantation is the atmosphere of the facility. Their focus is on golf and providing a great golf experience. They have all the essential amenities you’d expect. Still, at the same time, they don’t focus on anything unnecessary, allowing them to put their efforts towards the course and practice facilities.

The conditions at Plantation are consistent which is something I love about the course. They aren’t the firmest or fastest conditions, but the greens roll true and the fairways promote playable conditions for all abilities.

ACCESSIBILITY

COURSE DIFFICULTY: 3

WALKABILITY: 3

Plantation Golf Club isn’t a long course by any means. Topping out at 6,375 yards from the back tees and playing to a par of 72, there aren’t any brutally long holes, making it fun for everyone. For the newer golfer, it creates fun and fair holes that promote a love for the game and the conditions to score well and get good at developing sound fundamentals. For the more accomplished golfer, it will provide them with many opportunities to score low and build confidence in putting together a good score.

There are a few moderate walks between holes but nothing unmanageable making it a good course if you want to walk. The main challenge in Plantation are the water hazards. Especially on the back nine, there are many holes that will test your ability to place the ball around the course. While you don’t need to be long to play a great round at Plantation, you will be best served by being accurate.

AMENITIES

Whether you need to grab a bite to eat before, during, or after the round, want to stock up on some adult beverages, or need a few extra balls at the turn, Plantation has you covered.

Want to work on your game? Hit balls on the range? Dial in your short game? Plantation has everything you need for that too.

SUMMARY

Plantation is for sure a local favorite but at the same time, I also see that changing in the next few years as more and more players visit the Frisco area, word about Plantation is most certainly going to get out about this hidden (for now) gem just down the road from newest emerging golf Mecca in the country.
